SANTA ANITA IS BACK!
The Great Race Place a/k/a The GRP or more formally known as Santa Anita Park returns to action this Friday with a 1pm post time. With it are some long-awaited new wagers like a $1 Straight – No Jackpot – Pick 6. In addition to bringing back a traditional Pick 6, Santa Anita will offer a new $3 All Turf Pick 3 wager, linking three turf races in the program.

Pick 6 players may also partake in a special Keeneland-Santa Anita Pick 6 on Saturday, October 7. It will be a $1 Pick 6 with a player-friendly 15% takeout linking three races from Keeneland and three from Santa Anita.

This weekend’s action at the GRP features a stakes four-pack on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s program features the local prep for the Breeders’ Cup Classic, the $300,000 Awesome Again Stakes (G1) for three-year-olds and upward at nine furlongs on the main track. Three undercard stakes also compliment Saturday’s program: the $200,000 City of Hope (G2-T), $200,000 Eddie D. Stakes (G2-T), and the $200,000 Santa Anita Sprint Championship (G2).

Sunday also features a four-stakes program, headlined by the 2300,000 John Henry Turf Championship (G2-T) for three-year-olds and upward disputing the classic distance of 10 furlongs. The three supporting stakes include the $200,000 Zenyatta (G2) for fillies and mares prepping for the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, the $100,000 Tokyo City Cup (G2) at 1-1/2 miles on the main track, and $100,000 Unzip Me Stakes for three-year-old fillies coming down the hillside turf course at 6 ½ furlongs.

First post Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Santa Anita is 1pm. Of course, Santa Anita is the host track of the 40th Breeders’ Cup, set for Friday and Saturday, November 3 and 4. Stay tuned to this page for details on our Breeders’ Cup handicapping contest. And don’t forget you can catch all the local college football and NFL action while you wager right here at Pleasanton OTB.

Just a side note for bingo players. There will be no bingo on the evening of Saturday, November 4. Bingo will be held on Sunday, November 5 during the weekend of the Breeders’ Cup.
